2017

The Women’s Participation for Sustainable Cities project was developed under Support for Sustainable Cities program conducted by TESEV since 2016, with the support of Friedrich Naumann Foundation. The project aims to increase women’s participation in economic, social and political life in the city where they live.

The project aims to identify obstacles for women’s participation in economic, social and political life in the city they live in and to propose policies to overcome these barriers and make the city more participatory and ultimately more sustainable. TESEV uses an innovative method in its field studies where barriers to female participation are identified. The deep democracy studies, conducted by Ege Erim’s expertise, brings women together from different backgrounds to explore common barriers to their participation in economic, social and political life, in a mind opening way. Deep democracy meetings took place in Istanbul, Hatay, Kars, and Mersin. Within the scope of the project, policy notes were published on the participation of women in economic, social and political life.
