Municipality – Civil Society Cooperation in Climate Policies: Monitoring and Evaluation Plan Preparatory Workshop

Within the scope of the ” Civic Engagement for Local Climate Change Governance” project, carried out by the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) in partnership with Maltepe Municipality, the “Municipality – Civil Society Cooperation in Climate Policies: Monitoring and Evaluation Plan Preparatory Workshop” was held online on September 30, 2025. 76 representatives from 12 cities, including civil society organizations, local governments, academia, and the private sector, participated in the workshop where the monitoring and evaluation of local climate policies were discussed.

Following the capacity-building sessions on Maltepe Municipality’s local climate policy and monitoring and evaluation for civil society, the updated version of the Strategic Plan Monitoring and Participation Tool, MoDeL, was introduced. After the presentations, the municipality and other stakeholders engaged in group work to prepare monitoring and evaluation plans for local climate policies. During the presentations, the municipality and civil society had the opportunity to discuss local climate policies.
This project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union under the Civic Engagement Small Grants Programme. “Civic Engagement Small Grants Programme” implemented within the scope of “Strengthened Civic Engagement for Enhanced Democratic Local Governance in Türkiye Project” is financed by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The beneficiary of the project is the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye. As the IPA II Civil Society sector leader, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs is the lead institution of the project.
