Strengthening Democratic Local Governance in the Disaster-Affected Region

This project, in collaboration with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the framework of the “Project for Participatory, Inclusive, and Green Recovery for Local Public Services in Earthquake-Affected Regions (PACE),” aims to support democratic local governance, facilitate the informed participation of civil society, and foster collaboration between municipalities and civil society in the region affected by the February 6 earthquakes.

Under this project, TESEV will update “MoDeL”, a strategic plan monitoring and participation tool originally developed between 2018 and 2020 with the support of the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, for the municipalities of Adıyaman, Defne (Hatay), Dulkadiroğlu (Kahramanmaraş), Samandağ (Hatay), and Yeşilyurt (Malatya). The project will contribute to participatory, inclusive, and green recovery in the region through various capacity-building activities designed for both municipalities and civil society.

The ‘Participatory, Inclusive and Green Recovery for Local Public Services in the Earthquake-Affected Region (PACE)’ project is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It is coordinated by the Directorate for EU Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Türkiye, as the main beneficiary institution, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
